پښتو PAKHTO

Pashto is the language of Pakhtuns. But figuratively it is used in much wider sense connoting truth, reality manliness, protecting the right of sisters, brothers, or other close relatives, a high sense of ego, honour and pride, hospitality, and a sense of a firm belief on his faith. Pashto is the name of pashtun tribal law, customs and usages.
For example, in a certain law suit one will say"shall we settle the dispute according to the islamic Jurisprudence or according to Pashto".

Addressing someone as 'Be Pashto' (Pashtoless) is a grave swear which necessitates por.

To comply with one's promise is also called Pashto. In beief, Pashto is the totality of Pashtuns, responsibilites towards moral and ethical duties, dispositions and fine qualities and hence connotes sacredenss. That is why every Pashtun tries to convince the others that he is a good Pakhtun.
